Whitewater rafting is super fun, and it is an especially unique experience in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. In this video I was able to film a recent trip I took with some students down the upper Pigeon River in Hartford, Tennessee. This is only a 50 minute drive from the Gatlinburg / Pigeon Forge area and is well worth the trip. This is a beautiful section of river featuring class 3-4+ rapids.
For our trip we used www.raftoutdooradventures.com as our guide, and couldn’t have been happier. Their guide service was fun yet very professional and gave our students a trip to remember. The guide we had was named Chance (appropriate given the circumstance). According to Chance he had been down this river over 600 times by the time he led our group down. This level of experience made me much more comfortable since only two out of our group of 12 had ever been whitewater rafting. The last time I had gone was in 1997.
